Ringworm Prevention
Ringworm is difficult to prevent. The fungus is very common, and it is contagious even before symptoms appear. Always follow your doctor's advice for proper treatment.
Keep your skin, hair, and nails clean and dry. Do not share hats, towels, clothing, hairbrushes or other personal items. Wash towels and clothing in hot water and soap to destroy the fungus. Stay away from common areas such as community pools and gyms until your infection goes away.
1. Complete treatment as instructed, even after symptoms disappear to be sure.
2. Minimize close contact with others until treated.
3. Make sure the infected person or animal that was the source of infection gets treated.
